The part about asking someone to spend more time consuming something than you spent producing it feels like the ethical center of this whole mess. Attention is not free. A reader is giving you a small piece of their finite life, and the least we can do is not hand them a smoothie made of average sentences and borrowed conviction. Words are not just units of productivity. They are how we smuggle interior life across the glass between minds.
